Who we accommodate and aid
n the A.B.C. homes we accommodate the families of children from the Burlo surgical unit. We host one family at a time in each flat. Therefore, we host all the members of the nuclear family and, if necessary, other relatives and caregivers (grandparents, uncles, etc.), depending on the number of available beds in the flat.
Length of stay
Families are accommodated for periods of no less than two nights, and in general for the whole duration of the child’s hospitalisation.
A.B.C. homes
Our association runs four houses in Trieste. All the houses are located in the city centre, thus allowing for easy access to the Burlo hospital.
Beds available
The number of beds available in each flat varies from 4 to 6. It is also possible to add an extra bed and a playpen for little children upon request.
Free services
All four flats are equipped with: TV, kitchen (plates, cutlery, glasses, microwave, fridge, oven, cooker, pots and pans), hair-dryer, washing machine, vacuum cleaner, iron, duvets, stroller.
Thanks to the cooperation with Trieste Trasporti, we can offer families a free 10-ride bus ticket that can be used by any family member.
There is also a weekly cleaning ervice in all the flats. The accommodation manager will inform the family a few days in advance about the date of the weekly cleaning, which will be carried out between 9.30 and 12.30.

There is a lift in two of the three flats. If you have any special needs, you can let Alice, the person in charge of the A.B.C. houses, know when you make your reservation. She will take care of your needs based on the availability of the flats The four A.B.C. houses do not have private parking facilities.

After making contact with the person in charge of the facility, a volunteer of A.B.C. contacts the family to give directions to the houses. The volunteer also waits for the families on arrival, opens the doors of the house, and give them all the necessary explanations. hey will be the reference point for the whole period of the stay if the family has any questions about living in the house.
Check-in hours for A.B.C. homes are from 01:00 pm to 07:00 pm.
You need to check out and leave the flat by 09:30 am on the day of departure.
“Here we go! We spent the usual four days there, which is always a slog! But, over the years, going to Trieste has become a bit like coming home. Yes, because a lot of time has gone by since our first time in Trieste, at the Burlo hospital, with A.B.C., and here we have really found a second family which has accompanied us with kindness, love and friendship over time, on the treatment journey we had with our children at the Burlo.
Saying thank you is more than words to us, and all the people at A.B.C. know how much we mean it
All I can say now is: see you next time.
Hugs”
